ARTC 101: Art Conservation Freshmen Seminar - Introduction to the field through exposure to Winterthur Museum and current art conservation projects. Professional interaction fosters academic and social competencies while explaining education, research, and career opportunities.
CHEM 165: Freshmen CHEM/BIOC Majors Seminar - Introduction to the CHEM-BIOC department as well as to the professions of chemistry and biochemistry. Discussion topics will include courses and curricula, sub-disciplines in the field, communication tools, and career and research opportunities. Social activities will help integrate new students into the department community.
EGGG 167: Introduction to Engineering - Introduces students to the profession, including the disciplines of chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering. Prepares students for success through the integration of the following important skills: technical problem solving and engineering design, ethical decision-making, teamwork, and communication.
EGTE 165: Freshmen Seminar - Focuses on career exploration in engineering technology, academic services and campus resources. Intended for first year engineering technology students.
FLLT 367: First Year Seminar - Introduction to the study of language, literature, and the cultures that produce them. The specific subject matter varies, and will be announced in the registration booklet.
IFST 101 : Human Service and Cultural Competence - Provides an overview of human services and approaches to culturally competent practices; critical perspectives regarding diversity, society, race, class, gender and social policy are discussed.
PHIL 167:
Philosophy Freshman Seminar - Introduction to the philosophy major. Students will learn some basic techniques for analyzing philosophical texts, and for constructing philosophical argumentation. In addition, students will better come to understand the rationale for the courses required in the philosophy major and what those courses involve. Students will also learn about career and research opportunities in philosophy, resources for conducting philosophical research at the UD library and on the internet, and about opportunities for participation in the philosophy club, and other curricular and extra-curricular activities for philosophy majors.
UNIV 111: UST Freshman Seminar: Finding Your Way - Aids University Studies freshmen in achieving a successful transition from high school to the University of Delaware. Self-exploration exercises and exposure to the many majors at UD enable each student to develop a plan of action for selecting and seeking admission to the desired major.
