General Education Institute Objectives

To place the University of Delaware General Education Initiative in a national context. All Institute sessions are facilitated and moderated by academically recognized General Education experts.

To help faculty develop and refine instructional approaches that advance General Education goals and to provide support and resources. The Institute's agenda includes hands on sessions for faculty along with open sessions for the University community.

To highlight General Education Goals at the University of Delaware, especially; Goal #1: Attaining effective skills in quantitative reasoning; Goal #6: Developing the intellectual curiosity, confidence, and engagement that will lead to lifelong learning; and to introduce these as the targeted Instructional Grants for 2007-2008. In addition, the Institute emphasizes assessment of General Education Goals within courses and programmatic curriculum.
